A swarm is a group of peers that share the same torrent. A swarm differs from seeding, which is the process of one person sharing a torrent by themselves. In some cases, a single torrent can be shared by multiple swarms.

A peer acts as the end-user of BitTorrent, a peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing protocol. Peers can upload or download torrents and share files with each other via BitTorrent. The swarm can only share one file at a time.
